Chemo 11.1

So far so good. I slept on a mattress on the floor in Emily's room last night (see post below) and that was cozy. Emily chatted away for about 45 minutes before I told her it was time to sleep. I won't mention how the Ativan made for a delicious nights sleep, because that might get me in trouble, so I'll just say I slept fine. It did actually take me about an hour and half to fall asleep though.

At the moment, I am on the couch and feeling okay. My face is the color of a tomato. Nausea is at bay. Feeling kind of tired.

Hey Kevin,
Have you ever been offered Zofran as an anti-nausea medicine? It was my savior during ABVD. Didn't have to take much and it didn't have the side effects of Ativan (which yes sometimes you do want;) ) But I really didn't have any nausea using Zofran and the medicine lasts longer. Adriamicine was nicknamed "Big Red" here. It left a nasty hole in my arm when an IV line slipped out and the medicine got into my soft tissue! It's a nasty chemo drug!

Hi Heather,

Thanks for your comments and so glad to hear your treatment is showing such great results :-)

I haven't had Zofran, but I get a very similar drug (I can't remember the name right now) that seems to work pretty well. The Ativan is a low dosage, and not the main anti-nausea drug.

Sounds awful with your Adriamicine burn. When I got chemo through an IV the nurses would always sit by while the Adriamicine was dripping. I asked why, and when she explained what happened if it got into the soft tissue, it sounded pretty scary. Sorry you had to experience that :-(

I was actually pretty nervous the first time I got chemo through my port. I kept thinking, "what if they didn't put the port in right, and the adrimacine just drips down all over my insides?"

When my Mom got chemo, the called it "The Red Devil". The stuff has a reputation.
