I have a whole bunch of deadlines before my next chemo-coma on Friday, so I don't have much time for blog updates. I am excited about getting my first reader from Florida soon. Even if she won't be there long enough to establish a permanent base, it makes me happy to have one more highlighted State when I check the traffic statistics for the site.
I haven't mentioned the statistics before (Google analytics) but it is great fun. I can find out all kinds of interesting stuff, such as 85% of visitors use Macs, and Brian has checked the site 24 times while on the crapper (with his iPhone). Idaho and Oregon are in a near dead heat for 3rd most loyal state. Also, somebody arrived at the site by searching the phrase "stomach bug", it took them a full 34 seconds before they realized I didn't have what they were looking for. And I don't even want to mention some of the sites a few of you routinely go to before checking out this blog. Just the thought of it makes me feel dirty.

Kevin, good luck with your deadlines! That google stuff is pretty interesting. I have Mail setup to check the blog's rss feed so I wonder what that does to your metrics? How often does Mail check for updates? How often does google count a hit? I am going to make a point of reading it more regularly and see if I can't up Idaho's numbers... :-) As for the sites we visit before getting to your blog, it is what it is...
I actually think rss is a push technology, that bypasses the actual site. The code for Google analytics is embedded in the sites html, so it only registers when someone visits the site. So if you are only checking through RSS then I think I should give at least a point a day to Idaho.
And since you're visits aren't being recorded, I guess we can only conclude that you aren't the one in Idaho interested in latex.
