The cancer card isn't always without strings

Some parents of a boy in Emily's class sent me a nice bottle of wine. It was thoughtful of them, particularly since we don't know them that well. I pulled the cancer card and asked Mathilde to write a thank you email (I figured she would drink the wine too, and my written Danish isn't error free to say the least). Anyway, Mathilde accepted the pulling of the card, and wrote something like this (abbreviated version).

Dear Peter and Tina,

Thanks for the wine.

Best, Kevin

Last night I got this email.

Dear Kevin,

You are welcome. Get well.

Best,  Peter and Carol

Mathilde laughed a lot harder than I did.

Correction: Kevin DID not think twice about a thank you note. It had been a week and I said: honey - did you write a thank you note and he said "eh, would you mind?". And I sat down to write one of many thank you notes in Kevin's name... And - well I made a small tiny mistake.

HA HA HA HA HA - so funny!!!! best regards, Mathilde (not very anonymous)

I'm a little thick...had to read it about 5 times. Probably how people feel after realizing they've called me Darryl...
